Welcome to Frito Paws Rescue Co.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, it takes a special team of donors and fosters to make our mission possible.

Our mission at Frito Paws Rescue Co. is to provide a safe and loving temporary home for unwanted, homeless, abandoned, and abused dogs until they find their forever homes. We are dedicated to providing our rescues with love, care, and security.

By adopting a rescue dog, you are not only giving them a second chance but a forever frito-footed fur baby.

“Where in the world did you come up with the name of your rescue?”

This is a question I have been asked over and over again.

You see you are as passionate about dogs as I am; you will already know the answer to this question! I understand not every dog owner smells their dog’s paws. Go ahead and grab your fur baby and take a big whiff in the middle of the pad of their paw. What does it smell like? FRITOS!!!

I have also been told many times that I am an odd duck because I love to smell my dog’s paws. But to me, it is the smell of unconditional love and loyalty.

Where it all began

Frito Paws Rescue is a family-run rescue, my children and I do all of the day-to-day operations and maintenance. Our rescue is run on a secluded property off the end of a dead-end road right on the lake. This gives the dogs the opportunity to have more room to run, swim, and play.

A little about me my name is Lauren Tarvis and I am a local to the Chetek-Bloomer area. I have been with my husband Cody Tarvis for 19 years and we have 2 beautiful children. I graduated in 2007 from Bloomer High School. After graduation, I went on to Cosmetology school then worked in the salon for about 8 years. While I loved what I did it wasn’t my passion. I then went into the world of banking. After 12 years of doing that, I still wasn’t fulfilling my dream. So I decided to move on. When I heard there was a management position open at our local humane society I knew I found my forever career. After working there for 9 months I decided I needed to part ways and start my own rescue.

Frito Paws Rescue opened for operation in August 2023! It has been a long and bumpy road but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am finally doing something that I have dreamt of since I was 8 years old. None of this would be possible without my husband, mother Amy, children Londan and Corbin, as well as all of my amazing donors and fosters.
